There’s nothing better on cold winter nights that combining the flavors of warm wine and spices. This recipe will warm you from the inside out when the rest of the world is cold. So grab your favorite bottle of red wine and let your wine be transformed!
Now, it may seem a bit unusual to stock your pantry with star anise, one of the key ingredients in this recipe, but it’s well worth the purchase of those little stars. They add a depth to the spice that cannot be easily substituted. Grab some and you won’t regret it! They’ll store well in an airtight container, so you can use them again next year.
One important thing to remember is to make sure you peel and separate the orange slices before adding them to the saucepan. Orange peel and rind can add a bitter flavor to the wine.
